R= Circle Audience= People of the world F= Advertisement/commercial T= why circles are important.
Pretend that you are a circle. Write an advertisement to tell the people of the world why circles are important.
RAFT Activities
What is RAFT?
R Role of the Writer - Who are you as the writer? A soldier? A homeless person? An auto mechanic? An endangered animal? A circle?
A Audience - To whom are you writing? Your family at home? A friend? Your teacher? Readers of a newspaper? A local bank? An oil company?
F Format - What form will the writing take? Is it a letter? A speech? A poem? An advertisement or commercial?
T Topic (+ strong Verb) - What's the subject or the point of this piece? For example to persuade the enemy to spare your life - To plead for a re-test - To call for stricter regulations on oil drilling.
Example:
Role: a plant
Audience: the sun
Format: thank you letter
Topic: how the sun is important to it
You are a plant writing a thank you letter to the sun telling it how the sun is important to him.
For each day's RAFT activity your group will work together to write the day's assignment. Compose your assignment as a group on paper first. Once you have your RAFT assignment written, on the blog page click on the word Comment to open the writing space. Put your group name first and then type in your response.
When you have finished:
In the drop down window next to Comment as select the profile Anonymous.
Click on Post Comment .
Circles Rule the World!
ReplyDeleteWithout circles we would not have pupils and then we could not see all the circles in the world. If we didn't have circles and we wouldn't have pearls, bangle bracelets, or rings. If we had a triagle ring, it would pinch your skin and it would hurt. Without circles we would fall off the earth! The sun would disappear, and the planets would fall out of orbit and they would crash into each other and we would all die!
Triangle or square doorknobs would hurt our little bitty hands! Without circles, we would not have buttons and then our clothes would fall off!
Wheels are circles and if we did not have wheels we would not have scooters, bikes, or cars. We would have to walk everywhere and we would be like fried chicken!
If we didn't have magnifying glasses and then detectives could not find out who stole your purse. Without circles, we would not have bottle caps and our drinks would spill everywhere.
Without circles, we would not have balls and we could not have fun!
Pay Attention! Because Circles Rule the World and they are coming soon to a town near you!

ReplyDeleteCircles are the most awesome shape ever! Circles help us move because if they were square we would go ba bomp ba bomp . Doorknobs help us open doors and if baseballs were square they might stab us. Footballs help us protect our head. If coins were square they would get stuck. If planet earth was square it would hurt when you stand on the edge. Circles are important so keep looking for them.

Oranges, sushi, tangerines, cakes, pies, lollipops, scoops of ice cream and Swiss cheese holes are circles. Circles are awesome. They are very important to the people of the earth!

ReplyDeleteWithout circles your life would be totally different. Think about it, there would be no wheels, no circular planets or stars. Would coins be circles or squares? Would snowmen be spheres or triangular prisms or cubes? Google would be Gzzgle or Gffgle. NO TOMATOES!!!!!! Without circles we would not have what we love.

We wouldn’t have bowls if we didn’t have circles because a bowl is half of a circle.
Circles are important in sports. What if a basketball goal was square? What if you tried to kick a rectangle soccer ball?
If the sun was not a circle, different parts of the Earth would get more light.
If the Earth was a triangle, it would be too small, and you might walk off the edge.
…And pepperoni would just look silly if they were square.
But most importantly, we would have to walk everywhere if we didn’t have circles because all wheels are round.
That’s why you need us!
